I have received a PDF from TFL about the travel arrangements around North Acton for the olympics and paralympics that tells me that the proposed restriction of the A40 Western Avenue westbound carriageway to one lane between East Acton and Wales Farm Road has been dropped but will go ahead on the eastbound carriageway over the increased times of 0600 to 2400Think about how this affects YOU and make your preparations now.You will find help and information online:The Olympic Route NetworkFreight in LondonLondon 2012 Travel Advice for Business

They were told that the two-lane stretch of A40 between East Acton and Wales Farm Road was a deliberate bottleneck introduced by Ken Livingston when the original road improvement plans were cancelled, that the bottleneck applied to everyone including emergency services full time, and any reduction to one lane over that stretch always results in total gridlock. Total gridlock also applies to emergency services, including ambulances trying to reach hospitals. The three-lane section on the London side of East Acton will still be reduced to two, for the longer hours, but the poor Olympics VIPs will have to suffer the two-lane stretch with everyone else.

The main impact for me will be the 'No right turn from east bound A40 into Old Oak Rd' The 2 lane stretch westbound from OOR was dictated by the (now replaced) rail bridges and nothing to do with Ken! I think the Govt ministry has a major say as it's a main route........

Sorry but that is rubbish, both new bridges and the new footbridge can accommodate three lanes of traffic on both sides, the new bridges carried road traffic on what could be the third lane during construction and were then deliberately reduced. Land was purchased wide enough to allow three lanes on both sides for the original plans, and people were literally dragged from their houses ready for demolition and road widening which was cancelled immediately when labour were voted in.
