Anokha Indian Restaurant

So farewell 3 Spice and welcome Anokha......see front page review. This is Ifty's long promised effort and I will try a take away soon. Anyone else tried it yet? The menu does not look much different to the norm......

We went tonight and really liked it - andit was astonishingly good value. The decor is fresh and clean and the food rather the same: delicious peshawi naan, really good chicken dish - one of the spediality things near the back (OK not hugely helpful but I am not a natural reviewer) anyhow the chicken was tender and in definite peieces. Perfectly OK rice and raita.No licence but you can bring your own beer etc.One other table occupied by jolly Actonians and they enjoyed every mouthful too. Lots of takeaway orders while we were there but they could do with more diners-in --though apparently there were lots last night.

Yes we got a takeaway and was lovely - hot, well cooked and well priced but didnt like the prawn starter!

Chicken Sheghadi - that's what we had - one portion easily enough for two people if you are not starving.

dead in there last night but it wouldnt take much to be full! looks nicely done, worth a try... and slowly but surely Churchfield road gentrifies back up from the Acton Central railway line.

We popped in there last night around 10pm - 4 tables full already. The food was lovely, the staff attentive and friendly and its BYO to boot.Will definitely be going back.PS - if you like to sweat, try the Mirchwaali. Yowzer.

We went this evening - and enjoyed the food very much. The staff are attentive without being annoying. The food was well cooked and very tasty - the dishes we had were not hot, but pleasantly spicy. It is very good value as well. Not very busy when we were there only four other people and us two, (four more left as we arrived) - but they were quite busy with take-aways.Give it a try, and lets support our local lad! We will definitely be going back.

Possibly doing a take-away delivery - the same happened when we were there, but as there were three other people 'waiting' at the tables, it didn't really matter! It didn't leave them understaffed in any way.

I had a takeaway last week. It was good and I would recommend! Starter was Shish Kebab. OK but prefer to have served with hot veg (onion, tomato etc) as 3 Spice did. Main was Lamb Bhuna with Poppadoms, Nan and Chapati. All very good. Main portion was well sized. Yoghurt and mixed cuc, tom etc (in plastic bag) FOC.Eat in premises look smart and quite busy when I was there.Next door to the Rocket so a quick pint whilst waiting...Well done to Ifty after all the wait! Iain

We had a meal in Anokha last night.  We managed to get a table that had just vacated.  Reasonably busy all evening.  The food was very good - food and plates hot in temperature and the service was good.  Atmosphere convivial and pleasant. Prices very reasonable. Popped into the off license next door for BYO. A lovely evening - will definitely be returning.

I have never understood BYO. It's like going to a pub and taking a pie  or sandwiches with you. Much nicer to peruse a wine list and have the waiter open at your table (yes even if you are paying over the odds!)

But there is no option - Anokha dont have a licence and I dont think intend to get one - neither did 3 Spice.

We visited again on Thursday night - I am pleased we booked, or we would have been turned away!We don't mind the BYO policy - you can peruse the wine selection of your favourite supermarket/off licence, and I am sure the very obliging staff in Anokha will open the bottle for you at your table, and perhaps pour it for you. Also cheaper if one of you prefers red, and the other white - you can by a small bottle of each from Morrison's (or any other supermarket), and you can easily take home any wine you don't drink!!

They not only opened the wine and provided the glasses but also kindly put the second bottle of wine belonging to our neighbouring table in the 'fridge until needed.  I personally love BYO - we are not big drinkers but sometimes the drinks come to more than the food.  In this way we can afford to eat out more often.

Had our first takeaway from Anokha last night. Superb! I had Methi Chicken and husband had Murgh Masala. Both very tasty and well prepared. Will definitely be using Anokha again. What a find!

Had second takeaway last week. Lovely food and very friendly staff. Try their specials or let them recommend. A definite favourite already.

Was there tonight and although there was a steady stream of take- awasy - at least ten while we were there - only one other couple was eating in which was a shame.Grub good though.
