Another Community Centre Closure??!! - West Acton This time
I heard last night that the Council are planning to close the West Acton Community Centre where my son does Judo. Does anyone know anything more about this? Our family is just one of the many families that would be heartbroken if the Centre were to close down. My son has Autism and ADHD and his Judo club has provided therapy 'in a natural setting' that is cheap, accessible and has given him years of positive social interactions with kids of every hue, religion and social class.Not to mention the opportunity to meet world class athletes and compete nationally and internationally. It is not just the judo however, it is the teacher, Jo Crowley. She is exceptional in many ways and the club wouldn't be so special without her. I think City Hall is making a grave error if is to undervalue and close so many of our community Centres. Where will our communities exist if they cannot play, learn and meet each other in these shared spaces.
