No Overground/District/Piccadilly for 2 weekends

Just in case you weren't aware, for the next two weekends (9/10 and 16/17 July), there will be: - no Overground trains between Richmond and Willesden Junction - no Piccadilly Line trains west of Hammersmith, except for a Northfields-Heathrow service. - no District Line trains west of West Kensington on the Richmond and Ealing Broadway branches.Quite why a closure of the Overground is needed after all the closures of the last two years is beyond me.  I've asked TfL for an explanation.

Customers from the Acton area, who wish to travel to Heathrow by Tube this weekend or next, are advised to either get the E3 to Northfields station or the Central line to Ealing Broadway for a shuttle bus service to Boston Manor station.

I thought the Network Rail section (west of Acton Lane) had been renewed already, but I could be wrong.  What I find annoying is that after so many months of weekend closures on LO, we get the service restored in May (and much better than it ever was previously), and then two months later it's withdrawn on two consecutive weekends without any explanation.  Someone somewhere hasn't yet got the mindset that LO is now meant to be a 7-day railway.(That's not a dig at you, Patrick. Your contributions to these forums are much appreciated.)

I believe the track work (there is also drainage work in the Ealing Common area) is on the westbound District line between Turnham Green and the Network Rail boundary (north of Gunnersbury). I think three, maybe more, freight trains are being used to bring in the new rails, ballast, sleepers etc and removing the old. Because of the nature of the work and that the freight trains may be coming up the line from Richmond I think the Overground is closed also on safety grounds.
