Priory Centre to become academy
I may have missed this bit of news, but at the town hall regeneration meeting last night, it was confirmed that, when the Priory Centre is turned back into a primary school, it will be as an academy. Do people really want this? Is this what Labour is in favour of?The fact that it will be an academy - i.e. more or less independent of the council - means that the building's potential as a venue for some of the activities now carried out by community groups in the existing building will be severely limited if not non-existent, which further exacerbates the problem.Don't know how the parents of potential pupils feel about this!
