Re: Damp Proofing

Just wondered if anyone know of anyone local and reliable builder who could do this type of work, here is a brief description of what we need doing:Damp proof needed for 2 bedroom ground floor flat conversion in a 1900 terraced house. Walls in 2 bedrooms and kitchen/lounge area to be treated. Damp moderate in places, especially wall to garden in lounge and one bedroom to the front of the house. Any suggestions would be more than welcome - I am looking for a reasonable (ish) price too!

We have just had the chemical damp-proof course redone at our 1900 semi-detached house after it had failed. It was initially done about 20 years ago, when we bought the house, by a builder giving a written guarantee for 25 years - but the builder went out of business a number of years ago. We used Rentokil after they did a free survey for us. Rentokil did an excellent job. To work properly the holes into which the damp proofing chemical is injected need to be absolutely regular in terms of both depth and separation. This then allows the chemical to spread evenly across and into the wall.We now have a 30 year guarantee with a large company (Rentokil) which is also backed by an insurance company. The cost was less than £500.

Well, I wouldn't have thought of Rentokil, but have just made an enquiry with them - thank you! :) Very reasonable too by the sound of it!
