Bulgarian food in Acton!!

I was surprised to see the empty shop next to Tesco Express in Acton has reopened as a Bulgarian food shop. I do like to try food from different countries but Ive never been to Bulgaria so have no idea as to what to buy. Any recommendations?

Munira - some of their jams and preserves are lovely - lots of fruit and not too much sugar.  There is also a lovely relish made from aubergines and red peppers.  Don't know what it's called, but it's very good.

Can you tell me exactly where this is in Acton? Would love to pop in and have a look. Perhaps they have Bulgarian honey which I had once and it was delicious.

Hello Marlene. It's where Cantik used to be (end of Twyford Ave/Uxbridge Rd). I loved Cantik and it would have been a roaring express in Fulham or Chiswick but unfortunately not in Acton. Please let me know about the honey.

That end doesn't seem to do very well by small businesses - I don't know why except maybe there just aren't enough of them to be sustaining.

We rate Royal Siam Orchid as the best Thai food in the area; each friends we have introduced to the restaurant has been back!The Bulgarian food store is very well stocked and the lady I spoke with very friendly; hopefully they do well!

Thanks for the tip. I finally went there a few weeks back and bought some Bulgarian honey and it was delicious, a bit pricey though at 3.99 for a small jar. The real find however was the Rose Water in the toiletries section at the check out.The finest rose oil (Rosa Damascena) for the perfume and aromatherapy trade comes from Bulgaria and rosewater is a by-product of the steam distillation process. This makes the most wonderful face tonic. Use after cleansing your face or pour into a glass spray bottle. The smell is divine and the 330 ml. bottle is a snip at only £1.99. I shall be heading back there soon.

I am glad they are getting support from the community as they had their windows smashed during the riots which is such bad luck. They have only been open a few weeks and shops either side were unaffected.
