rioting in Acton

Has anyone else heard that Acton is to be targetted tonight? Apparently it is on some obscure web site and my husband has just rung to tell me. Got the info 3rd hand so unable to verify.

I've heard it but via someone on facebook, so not sure of the source. I can't see why Acton itself would be targetted, I would have thought given the hooligan/vandal/thug's need for materialistic gratification that Westfield would be more their thing...

Can anyone near the high street let us know exactly what's going on? There are rumours flying left right and centre on Twitter (dunno if it's just scaremongering). I work in Acton and live just off the high street so am quite worried :s

been told by charmy new agents they have to close up shop the police has told them,I copied this from another chat on this forumReports on twitter say Acton, Northolt, Southall, Hayes, Hammersmith, and West Drayton all targets tonight. With special attention to Hammersmith and Southall.Could be a long night ahead for all.

So far all quiet here on Gunnersbury Lane. Most of the very few shops we have are open currently. Just little grocers and such. A few sirens going towards Acton High St, but there are always a few of those any day of the week. Twitter is full of rumour and speculation. We are taking precautions but we don't see anything unusual currently. Just a load of traffic because so many people are being sent home from work all over town.

I've just come from the high street.  Nothing unusual going on except two policemen outside Natwest and lots of shops closed.Let's hope it stays that way...

About an hour ago Morrisons had the doors closed and there were 3-4 Community support offices outside.  Didn't think much of it (power cut?).  By the time I walk to Leveli they were thinking of closing because something was starting at Morrisons.

Just spoke to my neighbour who said that Acton High Street was like a ghost time. Another late night I think watching the BBC news. I just cannot get my head around all the violence and was so sad to see the state of Ealing this morning on the TV. We should be proud of this lovely city that we live in and not trying to destroy it.

I phoned Morrisons at 4.10pm and they confirmed they had closed at 4pm.

Horn Lane - some shops closed including the surgery there and Co-Op. The BP petrol station also had cordon tape around it.Other than that, nothing unusual to report from my walk up from Acton Main Line to home. Didn't see any police presence anywhere though.

did Morrison close or was it attacked? The word down Horn Lane 20 minutes ago was that Morrisons had been attacked and so all the shops on the high street? I take it from the news report that this is not true but if anyone could confirm that would be helpful. There was a lot of panicked people in the co op.

I've just walked down the Acton High Street.Morrison is closed, but no sign of trouble at all.(From the precinct side)  People walking past normal.  Most of the shops on the high street have closed for the night. With roller blinds down.  The Oaks is closed. Empty car park. High street entrance to the Oaks being boarded up as I walked past.One estate agent has even removed pictures of homes for sale/to let, from their window.All the main shops are closed, even news agents and take-a-way places. A few small independent grocer type shops are still open. Beside all that, life going on as normal.Feels like the calm before the storm. A very sad state of affairs.I'm not due out again tonight so no further reports.

there have been no attacks on acton high street. all the shops are shut and there are police milling around just in case. no violence and no looting.

Its not true that there was no looting in acton last night - the games shop on the mount had a massive hole in the window this morning when i walked past and was being boarded up,and the Tescos Express petrol station had about 40 youths looting the place (seen a youtube clip of it)Fingers crossed the fact that all is boarded up now on many shops and pre-empted so that if this does continue (which i hope it doesnt), these people choose to move elsewhere from Acton town centre.

Rumour has it that the 'gangs' are being driven in in expensive people carriers with blacked out windows.  These people, it would appear, are organised by someone, and not local.

Some of the kids involved are apparently very young e.g. 10,12,14! What are they doing out at night!  They should be in bed well tucked up with a parental bed time story!  Maybe parents should be fined for letting their kids out so late.
