Has anyone tried this mobile phone service? The tariffs are incredibly cheap compared to the other networks ie 8p a minute.

Giffgaff is an MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) that re-sells the O2 network.  The company was actually created by a former O2 director.

Bob, if you are a Virgin Media customer they are also offering calls at 8p per minute and texts 8p etc.We are going to change from Orange to Virgin Media and all you need is a Virgin Media sim card!I believe Asda are also doing cheap mobile phone rates.

I suspect this may bring all the tarrifs down eventualy.  What appeals to me about GiffGaff is that if you phone another GiffGaff phone calls and texts are free and to keep them free you only need to top up once in three months.

Fantastic rates and service - only glitch so far is cannot divert to a free voicemail system.  Just bought a 10 pound top-up to get free internet for the month, plus more minutes than I can use for work... and all calls/texts to my family's other giff gaff numbers are totally free.

I am going to switch as soon as I have used up my allowance. I have just found out I don't even need to unlock my phone as it is on O2. That saves £15 unlocking fee.
