Parking on double yellow lines on Church Road.

Is there a relaxation of parking restrictions during Ramadam as I have noticed that cars are parking on the double yellow lines every evening and not a warden in sight therefore no tickets being issued!!.

They used to be quite strict in that location!A year or two ago my husband was given a ticket for parking there on a Sunday for about 2 minutes! The disabled bays were occupied across the road but not all drivers had a blue badge!When challenged the parking fine was cancelled.

Last night there was a total of seventeen cars parked on the double yellow lines and the same again tonight no doubt !!

There are a number of people who are disabled and park on Church Road. The Centre themselves are asking for better parking spaces to the council in and around Church Road ie. The Avenue which is constantly heavily under used. Additonally it would help in regenration of Acton if people in general had more parking spaces. BTW people who do not use the centre and are not Muslims have made use of the An-Noor Centre's car Park inculding people from the health centre and other neighbours. Whilst there are people parking there and if they are disabled is there anything wrongthen? We are trying to address this issue of car parking in general but can't do it alone. People may think that the An-Noor centre has brought problems to the locality but this is to the contray as we are trying to solve things around the centre too ie. street lightling, footpaths, overgrown plants all of which are issues of public saftey.

the rubbish  is  a major  promlem the  people  just  throw stuff  on  the  ground  their  are  bins  true  not  enuogh of  them but even  with  the  bins  i  see them  all thre  time trowing  stuff  on  the floor

Dear A Tailor:Disabled car drivers should be displaying a disabled parking permit and should be parking in a disabled parking bay - are they?Do you have the name of the Council Officer who is dealing with these problems?

Yes i can agree that they should be displaying their badges. If they don't we can't be held responisble for them.Also Disabled people do not need to solely park in disabled bays but are allowed to park on yellow lines.

Does that mean that over 20 cars all parked on double yellow lines down the whole side of church road are disabled  ,this has been every night for at least two weeks and from 10.30pm till the early hours and when they do return to their cars the noise that is made wakes everybody up.

Blue Badge abuse is rife and, the council are reluctant to do anything about it.  The misuse of a Blue Badge carries a £1000 fine if convicted but, this does not seem to deter people.  It's about time the council addressed the problem.  There are however some restrictions about yellow lines but, that relates to the yellow bars on the kerbs.  Three bars is a no no.

There is a limited amount of people who run around from before and after the nights prayers at the centre and around it each night inculding myself who has a fulltime job in Essex and we can not be everywhere at once. I personally have challenged people parking in places not suitable. I have a disabled son myself who visits Acton Health Centre also amongest other places so please do not think that it is taken lightly about abuse of blue badges if this is the cause,a newsletter was drawn up to remind people about the neighbours, mis-use of blue badges amongest other things. But these are public road that are not police by the centre but having said that when the riots happened we did think about gathering volunteers together to go to protect Acton high street during those days.There is the alarm to Acton Health centre that repeatedly goes off but to date i havn't came across anyone complaining about this despite how loud it is. Where the cars are parked there are no houses next to them upto about 11:30 PM NOT til early hours. Would people complain about Acton helath centre alarm or the lack of action by the police after we made phone calls, the neighbours around church road who were making noise on sat night until early hours, the drunks who cause repeated troubles on church road....

But, to my knowledge, people DO complain about parking elsewhere, litter elsewhere, noise elsewhere (I don't live near the High Street, so don't know about this particular situation or the alarm that goes off).  I don't think anyone is singling you out, are they?  Merely highllighting a problem.  Are you saying that you're being targetted in some way?I think there have been parking issues in Church Road previously.  If I remember correctly, it was a cab company and people complained via this forum and to the Council.  I don't think you're getting "special" treatment, but I may be wrong.

Angela, I am speaking specifically about Church Road. There is a general parking problem there regardless of the centre itself. We will be making a petition now to ask the council for suitable parking towards the bottom end and The Avenue ( at the bottom, a road that is largely empty) even if it is pay and display. We have also repeatedly adviced where possible people who visit the health centre or high street and park their cars in the estates that they can get clampedI had attended the previous Ward meeting and there was a problem with a cab company on Crown street. Sorry i'm not aware of one on Church Road itself - do you have any further info on this?The centre has brought trade to the area also and less crime according the local SNT given the case that there is more foot flow. The centre had decided to play more of an active role with regards to the community/ environment around it and somethings can not be down alon.Now can people complain also to the council about the more parking required.mywardmatters@ealing.gov.uk
