Secure your vehicles!

Just a reminder to ensure that your cars are securely locked.Also make sure that nothing of value is left in full view of passers by.About 1am this morning a man about 5'6" slim build, short hair and smoking, possibly Middle Eastern appearance from what we could tell, was walking up and down Faraday Road and Allison Road looking into parked cars.He didn't actually do anything otherwise we would have telephoned the Police but he certainly looked suspicious.

I think that if you see such behaviour, you'd be perfectly justified in phoning the police.  I have been told by them on many occasions that if you are suspicious of anything, it's better to report it.

I fear that the police will decide they have better things to do than investigate such incidents.I'm reminded of the time I was pestered by a man in Gunnersbury Park and tried to report it to a group of policemen with speed guns in Lionel Road. The message was, 'We are far too busy stopping motorists from speeding. Come back when you've been raped and we might take an interest.'

I would just like to inform people on this website that our car was accidently left unlocked on driveway and was broken into in the early hours of sat 20th August.Nothing of great value was left in vehicle, but the thief/thieves found something worth stealing.Please be aware and pass on message to friends and neighbours in area

Hi EmmaAre you sure it was left unlocked? I ask as my parent's car was found unlocked on their driveway twice, a week apart, when Mum is sure she locked it. Even if she didn't the car automatically locks itself after a few minutes. Each time the glovebox was opened and cds were stolen. There were no visable signs of forced entry. They live just off Horn Lane and the last time it happened was a few weeks ago.

There were reports of something similar in W4 a couple of years ago; seems that the thieves have aparatus which will unlock a lot of common makes of car with a bit of trial and error.

That's interesting. They rang the manufacturer and were told they had never heard of people being able to unlock their cars without the electronic key.
