Staff cuts at Acton stations

The Evening Standard September 5 contained the following item.Safety fear 'as cuts will leave 675 stations without staff'.The article includes:A total of 265 stations in London and the South-East will be affected, the Transport Salaried Staffs Association said. They include Acton, Brixton, Chiswick, East Dulwich, Harringay Green Lanes and Tooting.Does Acton mean mainline or overground or both?We now buy our rail tickets at Acton Central  instead of the internet. It always works out cheaper and is a convenience. It would be terrible if it were going.

The full text of the Evening Standard article is at http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/article-23983762-price-hikes-and-safety-fears-over-unstaffed-stations.doIt has a list of affected stations that includes Acton Main Line.  I believe that it is still London Overground policy to staff all their stations, so Acton Central should not be affected.The story arises from union pressure to save members' jobs, and is based on their interpretation of the McNulty report on the railways.  It will ultimately be up to individual train companies to decide how they staff their stations.

Acton Mainline isnt staffed often anyhow is it? I never see anyone working there.Whereas Acton Central heaves with people even quite late.

agreed, I've never seen a member of staff anywhere near Acton Main Line Station.

He is on duty in the mornings and is a delight to deal with. I have bought complex tickets from him without any trouble at all. However I get the point that the station is not staffed in the evenings or on Saturdays. Perhaps this is the time to press for trains to stop there on Sundays and later in the evenings, ie after 10.30. It is my nearest station and I would like to use it more often.

Have also just noticed South Acton is on the list as well as West Ealing, Chiswick and Castle Bar Park among others.
