Acton to be split - Boundary Commission

Jolly irritating - for reasons in the other thread. It makes for very ineffective community activity and rather divided attention by the MP - obviously.

And College Park and Old Oak (including the Scrubs and Hamsth Hosp)get lumped in with Willesden, creating a constituency that stretches from (almost) Brent Cross to (almost) Westfield. At least Acton will form a significant part of the Hammersmith and Acton Const....

Lucky old Ealing eh? the proposed constituency looks wholly coherent and is all in the same borough.In contrast, ours is a dog's  dinner of two contrasting blocks joined at an apex...two boroughs...all makes for democratic downgrading.

How do you lot manage to sleep at night?Nothing will change we will all be represented by some self absorbed individual who will disappoint us all in the end.  In the time I have lived here I can remember two or three different constituency names.You must find something to do with your lives.

What about the CPZ, will Ealing zone MM be allowed by Hammersmith, or will we have to pay again?  So many sleepless nights! Also would we get a sane planning department?Why not make Acton independent? (Passport to Acton.)

It makes no difference to local government Nicola - not to CPZs, planning or the like - just to the constituency. But it means the MP is less likely to be active on residents' behalf in my experience.I don't agree with you, Colin. Not all MPs are self-serving - we did well with Sir George and I think Angie works hard too. Maybe a veil should be drawn over the two in between or maybe it was just that they were essentially Hammersmith MPs - or looking to be elected there and therefore had little interest in or time for Acton.But I think it harms all of us if we just write off as a hopeless careerist anyone who aspires to political election. If that's what they were, many could do better elsewhere.
