Getting to Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum today

Hi I need some advice please. I have booked a tour at 1.30pm for a visiting cousin without realising that there are engineering works on the tube. There is a rail replacement service from Hammersmith to Wimbledon station, then bus from there. I then thought overground Acton Central to Richmond and 493 from there to the museum, but it seems there are engineering works on the overground today too. I am taking 2 small children too so given the tour is 2.5 hours long anyway was hoping for a relatively painless way of getting there. I really didn't want to drive but is that actually my easiest option? Any help gratefully received, Milena.

Driving may be your best option - the trains are hopeless today and it's anyhow a really long way from the station...and Sunday buses are pretty unreliable. Plus, in the off season, I don't think parking a problem. If you are feeling evil, you could park at Wimbledon Park Golf Club which is nearby...but actually I think on road just round the corner will be OK

Thanks Sara, I'm rapidly coming to the same conclusion, whichever way I try I'm looking at well over an hour and that's if all the connections are spot on, which is unlikely in itself. I'm planning Chiswick roundabout, Upper Richmond Rd, Putney Hill route as I can't face Hammersmith. 25 minutes according to google maps, we shall see! Unless anyone has any better ideas.......

I visited there last year. The security guard on the gate allowed us to drive in and park beside the gift shop, there seemed to be plenty of space.

Total nightmare journey there, an hour and a half!! Missed the 1.30pm tour but were thankfully able to get onto the 2.30pm one. Fabulous tour though, really impressive and well worth it. Ditched the route there and did Putney hill, fulham palace rd, hammersmith on the way back which only took half an hour. Highly recommend the tour.
