Acton Pool etc closing 4th December

Council haven't made a formal statement yet but its leaked out and been confirmed by one Councillor.  Seems they have pulled back from the "mid 2012" timetable, it closes on 4th December.A couple of problems with this:a. They don't have planning permission yet (fact)b. It seems the plans are in a state of flux (rumour): seems the plans on show are not necessarily the plans that will be built, one rumour that one pool will be smaller.Basically the Council are keeping quite (project manager Shehzad Ahmed says "Reports are being written" - one wonders when they will be published, 3rd December?) and the ruling party Councillors are either in the dark or trying to stay in the dark.In the meantime Judy Graham has arranged a meeting at the Pool in the Studio room on 6th October, 7.30pm

That's pretty soon. Those of us who use the studio, gym and pools are wondering where we'll be able to find interim provision.

Can we make a plea to LBE, not to close the Pool until planning permission has been granted?  Planning permission can take forever, so don't see why the pool should be closed ahead of this.I swim three times a week at 0700, going elsewhere will be extremely inconvenient and probably expensive.

Libby, if you are there at 7am I probably know your face if not your name, although its usually closer to 7.30am before I get there now.Talk to Jude, she's usually there at 7am and it trying to organize exactly this.allan

It makes me so angry that they are closing this Pool down. I love the old Victorian structure and it is in very good condition - can't they invest the money in something more worthwhile?

I have sent the following questions to my South Acton councillors: "Whilst understanding and now accepting the need to close Acton Pool in order to build the new pool. I am concerned about the timing of the closure and alternative provision .Please, therefore could you provide some further information.Has the council signed with a private sector partner to assist with the financing of this development?Who will apply for planning permission LBE or the private sector partner?Has either LBE or the partner applied for planning permission?Apparently Contractors are required to prepare the pool for demolition.  How long will this preparation take?"I omitted to ask whether the build of the new pool was dependant on finding a private sector partner or whether the council could/would go ahead without one.I also asked questions on what swimminmg provision LBE would provide within the area whilst the building works were taking place.I await their response with interest.Any other cpouncillors who have this information, please do reply to this post.
