Demolition of WOOLF COURT and WODEHOUSE COURT

As you probably noticed that during summer time those two buildings become almost empty. Tenants were moved , who knows where?. Ealing Council took decision to demolish the oldest blocks on South Acton.(build in 1950)Leaseholders were not consulted, only informed individually about Council decision.Seven years ago I bought one bedroom flat at Woolf Court. I also was informed, that, although this is a regeneration area but this two blocks are staying without any doubts, because they are represents best quality buildings with strong structure,  with nice form of architectural design from the past . I was very happy, over the moon while decorating my first flat. Now I feel deep sadness watching my home being boarded with dark metal panels and only waiting for the day of execution.Unfortunately, "Regeneration" on South Acton is  destroying everything what was good in this area (including 100 old trees) and what suppose to be preserve as a part of historical ACTON for future generations. Unfortunately we have elected a local authority who sometimes gets things terribly wrong,prior to the high rise blocks being built in the seventys most of buildings in South Acton were modest victorian villas/houses usually inhabited by more than one family,stuctually and on only two feet of foundation these buildings stood the test of time perhaps only in need of minor modification-internal toilets/central heating.Yes it was a poor part of the parish which the first vicar of All Saints stood steadfast in helping his fellow man, midwifes were at hand buildings for the homeless, soup kitchens,community halls/parish halls for the youth and the pillar of the community All Saints Church whos doors were allways opened to the poor and needed sadly demolished in the eighties by the people we elected the local council and yes they got it sadly wrong and yes crime reared its ugly head once more on the estate.

yes  a lot  going  on  on  south  acton  but  barwick  house and  few more  blocks    have  a lot  people  that are not nice  drugs  etc

I have lived in South Acton for over more than 20 years and cannot wait for the regeneration and to move to the nice new builds!!! Roll on !!

Jon and Marta,You both need to ensure - and be assured by the Council in writing -  that they have plenty of money set aside for future for maintenance, following the builders 'guarantee' period.So often Ealing Council have not done this in the past and this has resulted in good buildings falling into decay.Have you all set up a new South Acton Residents Association?
