Acton Mags up for sale

I see the magistrates' court is up for sale. I can't seem to find a ball park price. Does anyone know?  I'm interested given the lack of space in Acton for public services like schools and community groups.  I assume the multiple-millions the court service expect to get won't be spent in Acton....

You would think that it would either become part of the redevelopment of the town hall site or be used at least temporarily to provide school accommodation to stop the Priory Groups being slung out on their ears next spring - or even somewhere the groups could go.But no - that would be joined up thinking and policy making and would benefit the community to boot - so obviously not going to happen.

Isn't the car park behind it up for sale too? Thought I heard it was.And I know I have asked this before but is the magistrates court a listed building?Won't be much silver left to sell off the way things are going !

I think the car park is council owned and part of the redevelopment. Where are the sales details for the Mag Ct? I presume they would auction it. I agree with Sara in that in an ideal world one public asset would transfer to another at nil cost for the better public good... Unfortunately the Court service budget and required cuts will mean sale to the highest bidder......

the problem with the car park apparently is that it has archeology under it and would take an age to get approved. Doesn't sound plausible tbut there you go...

On the subject this area, does anyone know why they removed the E3 bus stop outside the swimming pool?  Archaeology?  We should write to Time Team see if they fancy doing a dig....mind you having said that can you imagine the red tape they'd need to go through on Council land?!!
