Problems with BT server!

Has anybody else experienced problems with the BT server?Tried to get my contacts only to be informed that I have no contacts and, then as if by magic they appeared after 10 minutes, only to disappear again.  I contacted BT Broadband, to be told it was the server and,would be fixed within 24 hrs.  Still can't get my contacts.

Nicola, there were several BT Openreach vans today just after midday when I drove past in Horn Lane. Looked like some major works were being carried out....

Nicola - thought it was me, but I had the same problem.  I couldn't even add any new names to my contacts list.  All seems well now, although I access my contacts list through something called BT Yahoo Address Book.

Seems to be working.  I do hate it when I have to let BT poke around inside my computer but, it was the only way to report and rectify the fault.

I do not have "BT" broadband but guess that you are trying to access some sort of database held on a server provided by BT/Yahoo, but your broadband connection is OK. That would most likely be a problem in some remote datacentre, and not be a local problem. If the database is stored on your computer it is nothing to do with your broadband connection, just your machine, and possibly a software or virus problem.

It was a BT problem with their server, which has been corrected.

And you had to allow BT to access your PC to get it sorted???

Chris - maybe Nicola, like me, subscribes to BT's Home IT service, which is marvellous, and which allows BT to gain remote access to your PC.  They've got me out of several bad holes in the past!

With BT they ask you to close all personal files and, open internet explorer before giving you the remote access code.  At this point BT have total control of your computer but, you can see what they are doing at all times.  As I have two browsers (Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox) they checked both applications to check the fault.  As I have said before It was the BT server that was at fault.  In this case it was the only way to alert bt to the problem at their end and< not my PC

It seems that BT had a major power failure with widespread consequences.
