Mr Conran Not a very accurate summary of what i said. to say my My Main argument is not that North Acton is a remote area unknown to anyone in Ealing is misleading. My main argument is that allocating £5.6m to compulsory purchase a petrol station, then build a square at a time when the council needs to find £45m to expand our schools and also at a time when they are cutting front line services seems a tad extravagant. The council have claimed that they need to cut £85m from the budget(actual figure is £56m approx), then turn around and allocate £5.6m to this square after allocating £5m to a car park in Southall that they have never attempted to justify financially. That would be like you being put on a three day week and deciding to build the extension you couldn't afford when you were working 5 days a week. Do you think that we can afford this. Acton needs new school places, envirocrime officers, park rangers, better footpaths, money for resurfacing roads. section 106 money can be used to pay for school expansions which means the council would have to borrow less to expand schools in Acton and elsewhere in the borough, meaning they could cut fewer of the frontline services that residents in Acton use. I can understand why you might be excited by this expensive project, but if you think it won't affect the councils ability to deliver day to day services in Acton, it will. This is not affordable and neither is a carpark in Southall. That is why I suggested it is only a matter of time before people start calling this Southall car park two.
