Ealing Common crossing

What has happened to the crossing at Ealing Common tube station? My husband and I came back that way tonight. The crossing has been blocked by orange barriers and the lights have been removed. Seems crazy as there is no alternative and people were just running across the road. We saw 2 near misses.

It is still blocked as a crossing. On Monday, hundreds of commuters will be trying to cross into and out of the station. Please be careful everyone.

It could just be an upgrade of the current crossing.  In many parts of Acton this has been happening.

It looks like an upgrade rather than a removal as the space for posts is being retained. Possibly the lights are being made more 'intelligent' so they are timed not to block traffic that has been just released from crossing the north circular or to give bus priority. Seems pointless as the bottle neck is at the junction with Gunnersbury Lane.

The left hand traffic light hasn't been working for a while now, I guess it wasn't fixable so its being replaced.

If they are having to dig up the pavement then it may be a problem with the cabling.
