Rosebank Motors Closes It's Doors For The last Time Today...

After over 20 years of trading in Acton,the proprietor of Rosebank Motors of 91 Shakespeare Road, will close his gates for the final time today and hand the keys back to the management company.Dave, who has run this business for so many years, has asked me to thank the local community and all his customers for their loyalty and support over the years.Anyone wishing to take pictures of this historic building....It was Acton's first swimming pool,fed by an underground artesian well, evidence of which can still be seen today.....may come along and take their pictures today before 4:30 pm before the developers move in and (sadly) bulldoze the entire property and house...........

Sad news. I had heard the story that it was once a swimming pool and you could see the remnants of it in the garage.I suppose that's why this area is the Springfield ward.

My god this is sad.  Are we sure they're bulldozing it today? I still cannot believe it wasn't eligible for listing.

There is a strong need for the whole of Poets/Goldsmith's to be included in a Conservation Area.But no one seems interested.

I stand corrected. But I do remember voting around here back in the 80s and distinctly remember my polling card saying I was voting in the Springfield ward.

Not as yet Ana. Although as Sara has mentioned, there is quite a considerable amount of asbestos in the building so I would imagine HSE would need to be called in before any demolition takes place to monitor the situation considering how close this property is to a large school and being in a highly populated residential street.I believe the immediate neighbours are 'keeping and eye' on the property to make sure no sudden demolition takes place.
