What is wrong with this site?

It takes for ever to open a page, comes up with errors, says I have logged out and is generally hopeless. - technically not editorially. It's jolly nice to have our own editor again. But he deserves better than this clapped out software.

Internet connections in the W3 area are getting worse.  BT say that 'works are taking place in the Goldsmith Avenue area' - so says India - and I spotted a man with a torch looking at the box next to Goldsmith House.  I never have problems accessing the site from my work place, so I suspect it could be the local internet connections which could be causing problems.

I have a message at the bottom of the screen that says "Error userVisit The operation timed out"(sic)Very odd.

Doris's theory would be fine if other sites were affected - but facebook, twitter, BBC, amazon, gopetition all absolutely functioning.
