more on the Friars green CPZ!

Before I give Anthony Crane a ring, does anyone know any more on what is happening on the proposed extension to CPZ in Hereford rd, Julian ave, Lynton rd and roads west of Horn lane etc etc. I saw on this forum that it has been approved, but when are we going to see some action???

Remember it took years to get it put in on the east side after it was approved.  Don't believe a thing any politician says, especially in local government, since 2010.I seem to remember that although there was a "yes" from the core zone under the Tories, it was shelved, that is until this lot got in and, just look at the mess they have made.All or nothing, half a job, expensive consultation, total silence etc, etc.  What next?

The difference is that the plans were already drawn up and the traffic orders already made. It shouldn't take that long this time.

Copy of my email to: parkingservices@ealing.gov.ukFor The Attention Of:  Anthony CraneDear AnthonyAs you are aware, the introduction of the CPZ west of Horn Lane is due to be implemented, therefore could you please give me a timetable of when the work is going to start and, how long it will take the contractors to complete the line painting and, sign posts etc.When will the zone go LIVE and, the amount of grace period there will be for residents to obtain permits and, visitor tickets.The Traffic Orders have been drawn-up before it was decided to do only half the zone, so work should commence with immediate effect.  We have been told by Cllr D Crawford that work will start in November 2011 and, told at the last Acton Central Ward Forum, that everything would be in place before the end of December 2011.  Conformation required please.Yours

You need to speak to the Council Project Manager in the Highways Department who will be responsible for marking out the street and putting up the signage.He/she should have a 'programme of works' which will include a timetable.

Dear Nikki Thank you for your email. Works are due to begin this month. In view of the size of the area and possible disruptions to work due to the weather, we anticipate the works taking around 6 weeks. In terms of when the scheme will go live, this will depend largely on Parking Services. The tendency is for schemes to go live on the first of the month, for ease of administration etc. In which case I'm hopeful that a January 1st live date will be proposed. Residents are then given a 2/3 week grace period before enforcement formally begins. We should have more firm information in the next fortnight once our contractors have supplied us with the programme of works. Upon receipt of this, we'll be able to update Parking Services and they can begin rolling out the necessary documentation for permits to residents and businesses.
