noise from the park club

unbelieveable levels of noise from the park club from 16.00 till late. PA loudspeaker systems at full volume. i have called ealing council, and they have acknowoleged its unacceptable. Fireworks are fun, PA system from 4pm blaring all over acton is not !

Caroline - I live opposite to the club and we received a notice a few days ago warning us of the noise and advising us to phone if there was a problem.  I phoned around 1600 complained, was told to Email, which I did, but I had no response from them.  I couldn't watch television or listen to the radio and we had a strange diet of Stravinsky, Shostakovich, with, later in the evening, Verdi, Tchaikovsky, Khatachurian, with the odd Viennese waltz thrown in.  I did suggest to them that I hoped they enjoyed the event and that they would consider people who lived near and couldn't attend.  No joy, though.

We live on Creffield Road, and we had very loud music coming from the east which is the direction of the Park Club. Bad enough here, can't think what it was like nearer.

I agree it was rather noisy but it was a really spectacular display.

Jill - I'm sure it was, but why does it have to be so noisy and cause so much nuisance to those of us living  near the club?  The fact that they issued a letter telling us about the event does not excuse the noise, or the fact that they did not respond to my phone call or Email, which the letter had invited residents to do.

It was audible and annoying from Horn Lane.  I spoke to them this morning and they thought the sound levels were acceptable.  Their number is 020 8743 4321.

Just spoken to duty manager Amana to register my displeasure at yesterdays noise levels She claimed that the levels were in line with legislation and there had not been a problem I referred her to this website in the first instance Very arrogant lady!

There is no pleasing some people.It was quite surreal walking hearing the music, sorry or should I call it noise as some members of the Acton Taliban would call it.

Yes, it sounded louder than last year. From near Myrtle Road, I could hear every word said over the sound system. I heard the announcer ask the crowd to do a countdown, and I could hear adult and childrens voices. She also mentioned a funfair when asking for all the lights to be turned off for the fireworks.I can't imagine Park Club members would allow their children to be deafened by hour of classical music.My guess is that the speakers were located high up (so the sound carried further), or pointing upwards.  Fear not though, the Goldsmiths' Buildings on East Churchfield Road could be occupied by next year, and as long the residents don't become Park Club members, this issue should 'find its own level'.

I find the random fireworks being let off tonight more irritating than the organized event at The Park Club.

It's unbelievable the joylessness of some people on here. Bonfire night and there are random bangs and people complain classical music filling the air and people moan. What next? The grass is growing too loudly and the sparrows are farting mightily!I am glad I do not know any of you!

Colin,  I quite agree with you.  I thought much the same when I read the comments about the Park Club but I am working tonight.  I do NOT want to be working on a Saturday night and I have a splitting headache and there are bangs and screaming which  combined have reduced me to,  I admit,  a joyless fart for this evening only I hope!!

The louder the better when it comes to fireworks, the quieter the better when it comes to dodgy tannoys. Acton already has a touch of Apocalypse Now without the help of the Park Club's budget sound system.

I too was amazed at how loud it was. I could clearly undersatand what they were saying over the loud speakers form my bedroom with the double glazed windows closed.But then, it's one night a year, it didn't go on until what I would call late, a lot of people got a huge amount of enjoyment from being there, and many of us, myself included, got to watch some free fireworks from our homes.Summary - Great to see a positive event in the area.So what if the noise was a little loud.Just my humble opinion.Carl

No doubt the fireworks display was spectacular but the noise that went before it was unnecessary, My poor dog was petrified, I wish all these people would think of the elderly, pets and the people who live all around the Park Club. There is no need for all this noise to start in the early evening when the actual display is only for an hour later on.

My main concern was one of the large cloud of smoke which passed over the top end of Goldsmith Avenue - perhaps the readings on the air pollution monitors will have registered any toxic particles which could have caused those with breathing difficulties problems.For information - the music was heard loud and clear from this location.

"I've read from a number of sources that the Taunton Rugby Club fireworks display had finished BEFORE the M5 motorway accident occurred, Dee.  Best not jump to conclusions at this time.

Here in South Acton we could hear classical music wafting in the air, accompanied by the sound of distant fireworks. It was almost like living in Chiswick.

I have written to the Park Club complaining about the noise before the event.  The noise during the display wasn't so bad - it was from about 1600 that it was unbearable for people like me, who live almost opposite the club.  The fact that it was classical music didn't make it any better - I prefer my Shostakovich etc at a reasonable level.

Good luck with your letter but the response I received on telephoning them was dismissive to say the least.They claimed there had not been a problem with the council and everything was fine.I referred them to the postings on this site.I spoke to the the council today and their response was that its a one off - come back next year!Equally unhelpful.

and how come so many people complain about the noise from this but when there was a party over a whole weekend in Gibbon Road back in the summer who complained then??nobody!!

Interestingly although we are not too far away we heard very little and could see the fireworks very clearly from an upstairs window. We are south of the club which could suggest that the prevailing wind was in a westerly direction. We sometimes can hear the crowds from QPR when this happens.We do always hear the noise from the Acton Park Festival which is far more annoying but an event at which people are  clearly have a good time seems to be something that we should tolerate if it is only a few days a year.
