La Viande butchers re-opened

La Viande, the butchers which opened and closed on Churchfield Road has re-opened. There is a really nice Australian butcher in there, who seems to really know his stuff. I bought 2 very nice looking rib-eye steaks. he told me where the meat comes from and even what breed of cow they are. A nice selection of meat in there and next week he is going to start making his own sausages, several different varieties. Lets hope this one is more successfulthan the last one

As long as he washes his hands it doesn't put me off. The steaks were excellent,  I shall certainly be back.I do not have anything to do with this business just a very satisfied customer.

I bought 2 lamb loin chops the other day very tasty.. fantastic. I am looking forward to the sausages, he is going to try lots of different flavours and will produce the most popular as long as customers want them, he did talk of doing a bar b q too which could be interesting!  I quite like the fact that he sits on the street it is nice to chat even when you don't want meat.. he certainly knows a lot about butchery if not about grammar...  I did suggest he used an apostrophe on his board,  as in Butcher's shop...  so he has done that now!

This is great news; I am have been heading all the way to West Ealing Markets on Saturday for our butcher goods; I shall certainly check this out tomorrow as a more local alternative which I would gladly support given the good feedback online!

Um, why did I get the idea that this was a Halal butchers?And when I peeped in the arrangement seemed slightly odd. Some kind of mobile glass/perspex topped refridgerated display with pre cut bits of meat, rather than the usual counter and butchers block where you would see the butcher butchering.It all looked like a very temporary set up and quite put me off.Am I thinking of somewhere else?

It looks more conventional and permanent than it before this new guy started up...and the joints look good quality - and again conventional.I think the earlier version may have been halal but this one isn't

The guy running this shop is from the extremely good Brooks Butchers in Kensal Rise and has decided to go into business for himself. He's testing the market and opening slowly which is why it's not yet quite looking like a proper butchers and doesn't have a full selection of meats. He's experienced, knows his stuff and the quality of the meat should be very good.I wish him luck, we need to support these small businesses.

He had just sold his last leg of lamb when I got there so I settled for a nice joint of beef (well hung I was told..make of thet what you will.) some sausages, which hubby thouroughly enjoyed for lunch and some lovely smoked bacon...Have asked him to get certain meats which he has promised to do..Will definately be back !!

just shows how useful the forum is.  I had written off this place after a disaster with the previous guys- wasnt aware that it had changed hands, and changed radically.  will definitely try it - delighted to support local businesses

We had the lamb and beef sausages yesterday and they were fab ! Not a sign of fat at all !We will go back for more and other things to try

We usually buy meat away from acton in rather expensive butchers in London or countryside farms. On friday we bought two rib eye steaks and I still can't believe how good they were. I can confidently say that it is the best steak I had in the past three years. I have no links with the butcher. I hope his business will flourish.

I hope he will flourish too.  Chicken we bought from him roasted for lunch yesterday was excellent. Bacon also very good. Will definitely go back on a regular basis. Apparently he's closed on Mondays and Tuesdays - was open yesterday (Sunday) though. I am a long-standing and loyal customer of a certain Chiswick butcher but will have to think about how I am going to dilute my habit as it is wonderful to be able to buy good quality meat locally.

Cooked the joint of beef yesterday for Sunday lunch and have to admit it was very tasty and tender. Best I have had in years !Pity he's not open Monday or Tuesday though.

Finally made it to La Viande yesterday.Lovely lamb chops last night and he does two different pork-free sausages so have those to try tonight.And he's open Sundays - closed only on Mondays.He says custom growing - but could obviously do with more

I have been there a number of times now and have been very pleased.  Sausages are great and so are the lamb shnks.  Best thing though is the bacon he cures himself.  Sliced really thick it is fantastic.

Yes to the bacon, yes to the sausages, but very big yes to the roasting joints (tried beef, lamb and pork so far).  They are all exemplary and much better than anything else bought in the area.  I saw a queue in the shop at the weekend, and hope it's a sign of a successful business in the area.

I queued this morning - only one customer but he seemed to be buying the whole shop whidh is good.Can't work out whether Sainsbury's is going to be good for La Viande: greater footfall, more discriminatiing people shopping or disastrous: people one-stop shopping, not thinking of anywhere else.Tim and his fab sausages will need lots of local support.which reminds me - beef and lamb sausages for lunch - yum.

There were barely any sausages left at 5.30pm yesterday; Tim mentioned that he had been very, very, busy. We certainly will be continuing to purchase from him and encouraging others on on the forum.

Apparently the chicken for sausages delivery never came in so not chicken sausages and I had the last of the lamb and beef before noon.Doesn't look as if Sainsburys will offer much competition on meat: a very small selection and mostly burgers.

And probably much less padding than mass-produced ones so by meat weight, rather good value.

Joint of silverside salmon cut beef, pork chop and traditional pork sausages.  Very good quality.
