Even if Londis prices are fair, they won't be able to compete with Sainsburys, people will shop in Sainsbury's for something Londis doesn't have and while there buy whatever else they may need, which Londis probably sell (ie, if you went to Sainsbury's for a better range of pasta sauces why wouldn't you buy your newspaper/milk/fags, etc while you were there? Would you really go to another shop which sells the same things at maybe a few pence more? Be honest now ...).With such a booze licence it'll also be bad news for Grapevines although they do have a better selection than most small supermarkets.Let's hope I'm proved wrong by the locals helping small businesses but personally I have to go on price so if Sainsburys is cheaper I will shop there. I'd love to be able to say I will stick to local shops but I can't afford such a luxury.
