New shop in Horn Lane?

Extensive work has been gooing on in what used to be Acton Recycling 144 Horn Lane, next door to Patel's Newsagents.They seem to have lots of electrical sockets around the wall so perhaps an internet cafe, not another betting shop I hope!!!Does anyone know what is happening?

Not at the moment.Nothing seems to last for very long since ARC left.  I think the last one was an employment agency.  Ever since the computer shop went on the corner of Birkbeck Ave (run by Hoi) there has been a travel agent and solicitors.  Not sure what's there now.

Nicola, the computer shop on the corner of Birkbeck Avenue/Horn Lane is now a carpet shop!  Accordng to the sign above the shop it was supposed to be a solicitor but then the new people moved in and turned it into a carpet shop.Mr Patel my newsagent on the corner of Grafton Road/Horn Lane is not very happy as he thinks the empty shop next door is going to be let to the people who currently have a chicken/hamburger takeaway shop a few doors away! If this is the case (and he has heard nothing from the Council - surprise surprise) he thinks that not only will he get the smell of cooked foods all day long but there will be a huge commercial wheelie bin right outside his shop. That plus all the rubbish assorted with takeaway foods like discarded packages etc.I told him I will try and find out what is happening.Surely residents living in such close proximity have the right to know what is happening on their doorstep instead of discovering that it is a fait accompli?

I live on Grafton and, I think the last thing we want is another chicken, curry establishment, or some such thing.

JeanI asked the builders this morning what was going on, they were very cagey.  All they would say was that the chicken/burger place had to move.Is it not time for the council to come clean and, keep residents informed.  I can sympathize with Mr Patel as he is still very much in the dark.If the chicken/burger shop has to move, what is going to take it's place?  Speculation...!!!!!!

Thanks for that Nicola, I cannot understand why people who own the shops on either side have not been informed as to what is going to open next door!Surely it is down to the Council to advise residents about this sort of thing?

Unless it needs a licence or planning permission, there's no requirement to tell the neighbours.

'Change of use' - if this is proposed for 144 Horn Lane, I believe planning approval will be required.It depends on the 'class' of useage presently applicable to the property.

Thanks Dee.But it still don't tell us anything.  All I can see is that a bedsit on the ground floor was refused.I wonder if this is another dodgy planning application, that has slipped through!  What exactly was refused?

Nicola you need to go into the Ealing Council Planning site and search for 144 Horn Lane and all the info will come up on your screen.  There is a lot of it.  I could send you the link, but that may not work.
