Scandal Rocks The Rocket Pub at  Boutique Market!

Congratulations to Laura of The Village Trading Store on Churchfield Road (our very own trendy gifts, coffee & lifestyle store) for organising yet another superb Boutique Event at The Rocket Pub on Saturday.  So much fun was had by all young and old of all corners of Acton and beyond.  The Acton Calendar is just too funny/saucy for words and if anybody has not seen or bought a copy pop into Laura's Village Trading Store and get your copy before they run out! It puts Acton in an entirely new light! Well done to all organisers! Also a big thanks to The Rocket Pub for being such a lovely venue.

I'm sorry to criticise, but I didn't enjoy the market at all.It was far too cramped and you could hardly move without knocking over a small child running around or without tripping over a scooter or a buggy. I lasted about 10 minutes and went to the Station House instead.It was more like a children's playgroup than a boutique market.

You must have arrived at peak time - I was early and it was absolutely fine.Acton Xmas Fair won't be crowded in the same way - so give that a go maybe!

Portobello - Tourists, cars, bikes etc.    Trendy!Acton - small people, scooters, buggies - supporting local primary school garden renovation project.  Far too cramped!    Parents (and many others) came to support the event and spent their money!  It is impossible to cater for everyone, but many people will be looking forward to a possible next event

I'm still laughing at the Anthony Bell photo on the calendar!  Brings a whole new meaning to the hairdressing line "Would you like some moose in your hair?".  I always suspected Kevin was a curler short of a blue rinse!My husband is still drooling over the photo of Laura from .the Village Trading Store!  I may have to tear out the month of December!Sue from Heart and Soul looks gorgeous!, ditto Laura.......no doubt Anthony Bell is responsible for the fab hair?

Sorry for giving my feedback but ...I think the main problem is the space. It was seriously cramped and difficult to get to most of the downstairs stalls (upstairs was much better).  Portobello has much more space than the Rocket - no comparison.The Rocket isn't a very good venue and this will be losing the local primary school garden renovation project money. If they want to make more money, move the venue as it's not only me who was put off by the schoolyard atmosphere.What about trying to have an outdoor market in the Station House front yard? Or move some stalls outside to the Rocket terrace? Maybe I'll try earlier next time.

No problem. No offence taken, outside stalls would be lovely, but remember it is December and last year we were ankle deep in snow.  Laura ,Village Trading Store owner and fair organisor, did a great job organising it and raised loads of money which will be used for a fence to make the pond area safe for the kids. This Saturday there is a parents gardening day and diggers, pruners and clearers will be putting in a hard day's graft! Sarah, I organised an event called 2 days for Christmas a few years ago in the courtyard of The Station House (then called The Churchfield) The weather was so terrible, the stalls nearly blew over! It was wet, cold and understandably, not many people wanted to stand out in those kind of conditions. Laura should be commended for getting that many people through the door at the Rocket. It was a fantastic turnout and a lovely community atmosphere. No small feat to organise such an event, believe me..
