CPZ - 18 spaces for shoppers in Julian Avenue

Looks like a full CPZ on Creswick by the side of the park.  How do the council work out parking spaces?  It's about time Anthony Crane did some serious explaining and, the council and councillors should remember they are here to serve us, not the other way around.How many people are going to use 18 shop and park bays?  There are 4 on Grafton and, they are never full, apart from being on the wrong side of the road.  They are outside the newsagents front door, whereas they should be on the other side of the road.  Who is responsible for drawing up the plans, or is it the contractors who cannot understand instruction?In all probability our councillors will shy away from the problems, fail to respond or, ignore the residents (as usual.) I dare Anthony Crane and or Bassam to respond on this forum.

The usual practice is for officers to draw up detailed plans of the road markings to be placed in a CPZ, including double and single yellow lines, parking bays, stop and shops bays, disabled bays and car club bays. Councillors will therefore have full visibility of what is going to be done and can ask any questions or for changes to be made.So the answer to Nicola's questions (who is responsible?) is the ward councillors - either they approved the plans drawn up by officers or suggested these parking bays as amendments to the original officer plan. Bassam Mahfouz, as transport portfolio holder, would not be asked about the precise location of bays (it would be unreasonable to expect him to be able to comment intelligently on the best parking arrangements in every street in the borough).Though there's no absolute rule, it's normal practice to have spaces in front of houses as CPZ bays with stop and shop spaces along non-residential frontages.

The problem has already been solved. The eighteen spaces are being reduced to eight.

Ah, they still have to re-paint and remove lines, that could take forever.  Just glad someone, somewhere, shouted loud enough.  Bet our illustrious councillors weren't behind it.It would be better if they reduced the new figure of eight to four.
