Why has EVERY delivery driver started to call me Mr Robert.Whats wrong with Mr Crossley or Robert (if they must), but Mr Robert is just weird.

Of course they may just think it's polite. to address someone by their christian name. I have worked in establishments where a person is addressed as Mr (Uncle Tom Cobley and all.(usually the upper management.)) It appears to be a male orientated thing.

I remember being told by a knight of the realm that Hong Kong customs addressed him as Mr Sir Harry. But this is Blighty not Hong Kong.

Yes, SIR.Something that is driving me mad is, I have to keep logging on to this forum. Incorrect e-mail address etc. It's about time the people who run this web site got their act together.
Where I work the Military Officers refer to each other by rank then their christian names. ie Group Capt Mark or Colonel John.
