North China Restaurant_ Disappointment

It is my wifes birthday today so i decided to treat my wife to a take away from North China.I ordered it online and ordered two portions of salt and pepper prawns as these are her favourite, when my order arrived they had delivered salt and pepper squid which my wife dislikes so i rang the restaurant and informed me that its here in black and white that my order was squid and i should have checked my e-mail that shows this , my problem is that I did order prawns as i checked the order before I sent it and my wife was sitting beside me whilst ordering.North China said as i did not ring or check my e-mail I was in the wrong so tough luck ....and i believe thats terrible customer service!

What a shame. They are always so good when we go there. Mark you, I wouldn't book online with North China as they dont check the email - or used not to - very much.But I am very surprised they would argue with a customer - they have very high standards of customer service in my experience.

Have you tried Thai Nice across the road Martin? I know Sara likes North China but the few times we've been, its never lived up to its reputation. We lived in Thailand for almost a year and the food at Thai Nice is as good as anything we had there. Plus the staff are very polite and friendly. We normally eat in but have ordered takeaway twice for home delivery and they were very fast.

I've never been disappointed by the North China. We have had some fabulous meals there - and great take-aways too although I have never ordered on-line. Food and service always excellent.

Sorry you had a bad experience Martin.  Over the years we have always had great service and super food when eaten in there, though don't normally get online takeaway.

Hi all,We also have had great service and great food from North China so was a big dissapointment to recieve if anything poor customer service, I do not know if we will use them again as my wife is still very annoyed by the way we were spoken to.

I go to Sichuan in Churchfield Road.  Atmosphere not so good as North China but food is amazing and dishes more interesting.

I know what you mean Sara, the atmosphere isn't as good as North China, but don't be put off, I've had some very good meals there and it's excellent value.http://www.sichuan-london.co.uk/
