CPZ parking fees to go up again..

I see in today's Gazette, that as from 1st April 2012 the fees for a parking permit are to rise to £45 from £40, and £77.50 from £75.Those of us in Zone K who campaigned to get included in Zone K1 instead still seem to be waiting for the decision to be made public. I gather from the CCA that the council agreed to make the change so that the area for K1 will be extended to cover the parts of Zone K within the following boundaries: Steyne Road/Horn Lane (east side), High Street (north side), Overground railway line, St Dunstan's Gardens, top of Cumberland Road (up to but not including Acacia Road) and Highlands Avenue. No change to signage as yet, and we have just had to pay £75 to renew an annual permit.When they finally get their act together, do you think the council will refund us the difference between Zone K and Zone K1 charges? I doubt it very much!!

Spoke to the council today.Changes were only approved on 21st February and will only come into force at the earliest on 1st May or possibly on 1st June.

This is outrageous - the consultation was last year and we have been promised at successive Ward Forums that it was to be implemented firstly by the beginning of this year and then by March.To then charge potential K1-ites the full fee, to ensure that KI is not implemented until after the fees go up AND to refuse to reimburse, looks like exploitative profiteering. It's probably just incompetence/bureaucracy but it presents very poorly indeed.
