CCA wine tasting, Friday 16 March, The Rocket, 11 Churchfield Road, 7 for 7.30pm

Prepare yourself for some adventurous oral sensations – red, white, rosé, Old World, New World, this grape and that – accompanied by the entertaining tuition of our wine guide and a buffet courtesy of The Rocket. We were unable to cover our costs at the last event due to a few no-shows - so this time no one will be admitted who has not paid in advance. Please book before 9th March if you wish to attend

It's hard to get people to commit even if they think they might well attend.At the Derwentwater School PTA quiz last month, the organizers said that TWO DAYS before the event, only 9 tickets were sold - even though there were about 70 people there on the night.That's both scary and dis-heartening for event organisers

The Churchfield Community Association.It serves those who "live work or shop in and around Churchfield Road". So businesses as well as residents.There is a website http://www.churchfield.org/which has details of upcoming events, campaigns and how to join.Or look at the noticeboard by Acton Central station which we keep reasonably up to date.Membership a stunning £5 pa by direct debit or even less if you qualify for a concession.

Sadly we have taken the decision to cancel this event due to insufficient numbers.  As so often happens lots of people book at the last minute but for this event we do need to be able to order the wine and food at least a week in advance which is why we've decided to cancel it today.  We did not cover our costs at the last event and don't want to be in the same position again.
