Apple V PC

Thinking about changing from PC to IMac Pros and cons please And the questions of will I(more likely who) be able to transfer all my files ?

Mac hardware is expensive. Why do you want to change to iMac? Will you then want to immediately install Microsoft?When Mac hardware was changed to run on the Intel processors the software was changed to the free Unix-compatible BSD operating system with just enough proprietary front end to hide it.It appears that the government has decided that schools should not only teach the use of a free Unix-compatible operating system, (Linux), but also teach how to use a programming language called Python running on Linux. Not sure how many teachers have any previous experience.

The Mac will run Windows under virtualisation software or you can boot into Boot Camp for the authentic Windows experience. Of course you will need original Microsoft operating discs (not the one that come with a PC.) Any files that won't transfer to the Mac operating system can always be seen this way. Microsoft Office for the Mac will read Word Excel etc from Windows without the need for virtualisation softwareVirtualisation like VMWare Fusion and Parallels will have to bought However Boot Camp comes with the Mac

If you just want to access the internet, handle emails, and work with Microsoft Office and Excel files then both LibreOffice and OpenOffice on which it is based can do that for free. You can even try it out using your existing PC by just running a "Live" Linux disc such as a Knoppix DVD or CD, it runs direct from that disc and does not install anything on your hard disc. I can give you a copy if you are interested.

I know around 30 people now who've moved from windows to mac for their home (and in some cases, work) PCs. I don't know anyone who has moved back the other way.Another point - the price comparisons of PCs and Macs often miss out a couple of things:1. The customer service with Apple is great. I know plenty of people who've had problems sorted out free at the apple store at no cost - including someone who poured a coke into the keyboard, blew up the mac and then had it repaired (£600 worth of repairs) at no cost.2. The hardware comparisons often overlook the superior screen quality on a mac. My work HP laptop cost the same as my Macbook pro but the macbook is a massively better machine to use.3. With windows you need to factor in the additional yearly cost of anti-virus software and backup software. Also factor in Operating System upgrades - typically over £100 on Windows and £20 on Mac.

Just a warning, I bought an iMac 4 weeks ago and it doesn't connect to the internet very well. It keeps disconnecting, 100s of other people have mentioned it on forums and others are struggling. Seems to be a huge problem at the moment and there is no fix apart from rebooting and reconnecting to wifi. So be very careful. Apple aren't making comment at the moment so little can be done. I have 4 other PCs that all work fine, just the apple is unusable and very expensive time consuming trips to the apple store are painful. Might be worth waiting a while before you make the move.

I assume you mean when using wireless. One possible problem is a computer main processor clock speed close to the wireless frequency in use causing interference, adding to all the usual problems with poor signal path. I have heard this can be a problem with some phones that are definitely smart but no so good as phones.
