scouts community week 14-20 may

People of Acton, Here I am entering my 20th year as a scoutleader in Acton, and a first.As a cub, scout etc never took part in the old tradition of "bob a job week", but this year the Scout Association is bringing it back.In a association with B&Q,( i haven't told them yet lol ), I am looking for a local community project that could do with our help (or hindrance). It would help to boost our funds through the young peopel being sponsered, and any money raised could be split.There is also a small chance we could be televised.Thanking you in advance for your suggestions.Glenn YoungLeader in charge14th Acton Scout Group

Cool, it is something I can get my young people involved in, though I did help you with some of my explorer scouts clear graffiti, but some of the comments from the locals was not nice.

My kids had the same experience: as in "oh are you on community service, what did you do wrong?" Still, you only have to say. And many people, especially the shop-owners were vocally grateful - though bemused that the community would do this for nothing.We don't have so much now - except on shutters that are only down at night and they are jolly diffcult to co-ordinate cleaning. And the council has got much beter at doing it quickly so hwe hardly go out on patrols any more.

This is great to hear; my dad is the NSW lead for Scouts in Australia and has been with the group for a very long time; he would not be happy if I disclosed his age lolI shall ask him for some community related ideas as they have this event every year in Australia. I shall let you know!
