Jubilee Street Party in Goldsmiths Estate

The Goldsmiths Residents Association has teamed up with the Goldsmiths Arms and St Dunstan's Church to organise a street party for the Queens Jubilee on Sunday 3rd June.If you are interested in helping us make this day a success or you have ideas for the event then you can either leave comments here, join our blog on www.goldsmithsresidents.org.uk, email us at goldsmithsresidents@gmail.com or come along to our AGM on 3rd April at 7pm.

What funWe are having ours in Goldsmith Avenue on June 4th so I suppoe locals could trip from one to the another. Ours will be very street-focussed though.Have you decided what you will do yet?I am experimenting with bunting!

Hi SaraLots of ideas buzzing around.  Maybe closing off the top of Friars Place Lane and using the land in and around the pub and church with live music, buffet, BBQs and sit down table for the very young and those in need of a seat.  Fancy dress, stalls and competitions are being explored and lots of bunting! Great fun hope you will join us.

Am not around on the Sunday I'm afraid. Consensus here was that lots of people wanted to see the 1000-boat regatta then. (not me - would be too tempted to pelt the Marquess of Salisbury who is organising it, with falafel to remind him of the Save Gaby's Deli campaign)Am retreating to Sussex instead.

Partners now include the Goldsmiths Residents Association, The Goldsmiths pub, St Dunstans Church, The Park Club and London Network Church (the Baptist Church).  There will be a performance by the students at Barbara Speake school and we are approaching local musicians so there will be live music.Ideas being explored are face-painting, best hat competition, zumba, barbecue,  tombola, bouncy castle, a treasure hunt, quiz and some fun sporting activities. We are looking for more ideas and volunteers on the day.

Have found a good bouncy castle hirer - with two recommendations from people I trust, plus public liability insurance - at only £16. PM me if you want details.We're aiming to do a tug of war - odds versus evens - but haven't sourced a suitable rope yet.Anyone know of one?We should share road closed signs!

Thanks I think the Goldsmiths Arms have already booked one  - I will double check.I have put in a request to hire signs from the council.  Happy to pass them over to you for the Monday.  Tug of war is a brilliant idea.  We are having Zumba, a treasure hunt, live music, egg and spoon and sack races and a quiz.  Hopefully something for everyone.

Yes I put in a request too - but Izzy in Ealing events seems to think they will not have enough - so I think offering a specific share might be helpful.Bunting production going MUCH better - the answer is not wonderweb which is a waste of time - but proper glue. Hope it holds until June.Love the idea of egg and spoon races - will propose at planning meeting. theoretically we may have live music spelled by DJ but am not certain.Have an ice-cream van coming.

We have been allocated road closed signs.  Maybe you can tell Izzy that we will share.  We will be taking them down at 7pm on the 3rd June and you can have them for your party on the 4th.

Have done risk assessment.My assigned task is co-ordination and bureacracy. There's quite a lot of it!

We're meeting this week to finalise the programme and we will be reviewing our roles then. I always find myself in co-ordinating roles - probably because I enjoy creating events and projects.  I just focus on the end result and don't give up until it happens.  We are attracting a lot of enthusiasm and the workload is being divided up fairly.  So, the activity to date has been fun and not overwhelming.If you have time for a coffee before the event it will be nice to meet up and share tips and stories.  Enjoy the sunshine.
