Respark Zone K  to K1 changes

I spoke with the council today who confirmed that the relevant statutory notices were to be published on Fri with a three week time window for objections Should there be none of any consequence the changeover date would be 1st May The revised street signs have been ordered already it appears. Despite pushing the point they wouldnt comment on the cases where annual permits @ the old rate have already been purchased and a pro rata refund is due Deafening silence from our councillors on the subject!

Taken from the latest Committee report: (reduction of parking restrictions)'2.11 Given the outcome of the consultation and the natural division of the zone withinthe 4 wards, consideration was given to reducing the hours of operation only in theActon Central and East Acton wards. The consultation results were sent to theCouncillors of the 4 affected Acton Wards. I am sure the council will find some reason for not refunding us anything. It all seems to have been so long and drawn out - obviously to make as much money out of us as possible before they commit themselves to the change!Let's just hope no-one raises any objections....

When Councillor Dan Crawford raised the matter with officers, they threatened to defer the whole scheme - can you imagine? Just who do they think they work for?Anyhow it isnt being deferred and Dan says he is pursuing the matter of the refunds.But honestly, defering implementation for what, nearly six months, till just after renewal month (either through incompetence or malice - I prefer the former always), hiking the fee and then refusing refunds is the sort of behaviour that gives local authorities a bad name.

I couldn't see the point in them threatening deferral - people renew at different times - depending on when they first needed to apply for a permit. We pay at the end of December, our daughter pays in March, a neighbour pays in September....When would they defer it to? There is no one month for everyone to renew. At least they saw sense on that one.This council have proved yet again that they do not really care about the people who pay their wages. Lets hope Dan Crawford shows he can be a good councillor, fighting for his ward members!

I have to renew my parking permit for K this week, and in the light of these postings I rang the parking department. (spoke to someone called Rog) who went away to ask advice re: making K the same as K1. when he returned, I was told that there is not to be any change in the K Zone, but change in K1 to bring that more in line with K. I did spend some time explaining that K was all day and that K1 are not expecting to change,  he asked for my address etc so he Knew where I am talking about (Grove Road). When I first asked about refund, he said gaily that he was sure that would be fine! (That's when I asked him to get further Info)! will email Daniel Crawford and ask him now..

I have called Parking Services and according to Gideon there, Jane was given incorrect information. According to Gideon, Parking Services have not yet been informed about this change in hours. Let's hope they all get it right once the notices have been served etc. And the response about refunds etc from our local councillors is needed asap, I would think.

Those who voted for the change from all day restrictions to one hour in the morning and one in the afternoon, may regret their decision.  Especially those living near to Acton Central Station.
