Patients comment on GP Surgeries, Dentists, Opticians, Other services

Found this on Chiswick W4:I just stumbled on to this NHS page which I never knew existed:http://www.nhs.uk/ServiceDirectories/Pages/ServiceSearch.aspx?ServiceType=GP&InputError=DefaultYou can see other peoples' ratings and comments about local GP's, Dentists, Opticians, etc, and add your own ratings and comments, including whether or not you would recommend them.What's interesting is: the comments themselves, how many recommendations different places get, and how little feedback some places have.You can add your comments, ratings, and recommendations - anonymously if you wish - but these must be based on your own experience (or that of a close family member you are responsible for), and must not identify individuals. There are moderators who edit comments for these rules before posting them on the site.Happy reading!

The problem with all these websites is that the disgruntled weirdoes get online, while all the satisfied customers don't bother. I was amazed by the negative comments about my excellent health centre.

Susan, you are absolutely right. How many of us have taken the trouble to register and comment after a perfectly satisfactory visit to the GP? While I think it's important that accessible information on local NHS services is available on the internet, the moderating on this (probably eye-wateringly expensive) site is inadequate, if it exists at all. I have tested this myself.Of course the comments sections for all services are going to be weighted by weirdos with a grudge. I am not saying that all NHS services do not merit a complaint: many of us have experienced first rate NHS treatment as well as bad. But enabling Joe Public to post comments on a public website which is supposed to help us decide which services to choose is, in my opinion, idiotic.

Had a look at the reviews for my GP practice, reviews mostly good, but, some idiots have to pull it down.  Posted a near 5* comment, as I have found no problems.

Crown St.  Grrrrrrrrrrrr.  There is only one decent doctor there.  She trained at Dundee.

That's just mean!Dr Pambakian there has always been a star with our family - especially nut-allergic, asthmatic daughter and the other doctors - especially the nice Irish one - too.And I go back to the days of Dr Anne Cobbe (terrifying woman!)

Explain why the nice Irish one and the terrifying woman, left pneumonia and pleurisy untreated.(1) You've already had one course of anti-biotics, can' give you anymore.(2)  To many X-Rays(3) Pambakian didn't like the complaint.Result: Hospital treatment, 16 weeks of anti-biotics, countless X-rays and, left with lung damage.As I said Grrrrrrrrrrr.

Sorry you had one bad experience.We've had only good ones for 23 years now.And Anne Cobbe (the terifying one) retired much more than a decade ago - is this incident that long ago? If so, may not be wholly relevant now.

I am with Sara on this! We have had nothing but wonderful treatment there since 1990. I can safely say that without their prompt action I would not be here today and my son would not have been diagnosed with leukaemia so promptly!It is in part due to them that we are all together as a family and I can't praise them enough!
