New business opening soon.  Horn Ln.

KS Hairbook (very tatty signage, in English and Arabic.) is opening soon, where the old junk shop was, next to the newsagents.  Are they another hairdressers?  If so, male, female or unisex.  Plenty of power points but, no fixtures as yet.If it is a hairdressers/barbers, do we really need another one in such close proximity to those established at the bottom end of Horn Ln and Churchfield Rd?

If they get support from the market then yes we "need" it. Otherwise they will go out of business.Internet shopping means this is one of the few entrepreneurial areas left on the high street.

Nicola, I asked my newsagent Mr Patel and he thinks the new shop is indeed going to be a hairdressing salon.I am pleased that someone is taking over the empty shop but I have to agree with you that the sign above the shop is rather tatty!The area used to be in a mess when the second hand shop was there because people would leave donations outside, others would pull everything out and scatter it over the pavement and into the side streets!

I think the new hairdressers are specializing middle eastern hair.  Have also heard that the windows are going to be tinted.

There was a salon in Churchfield Road that started out spcializing in veiled customers. But it broadened or changed hands or maybe both, quite quickly.

Men in the Middle East use hair cutting establishments as a social centre - as my husband found out recently in Jordan.  They offer men a wider range of services than those offered by European establishments.  Eyebrow threading for example comes with the hair cut!
