Well there probably is, but what I've noticed is that everyone responds to a school on a personal level. You have those parents who don't visit the school but apply anyway and then you have those who visit the schools and like them or don't, almost a gut-feeling, and then those who purely operate from an Ofsted report.We read the Ofsteds, the sat results and then visited (lost count of how many schools I visited). Our catchment primary school is Derwentwater but we wanted a faith school. However, we also nominated one non-faith school and didn't opt for Derwentwater because, when I visited, I just didn't like it at all, for various reasons. I couldn't imagine my little one there. Others, however, rave about it, so it's an individual thing.What seems to have a common thread is to avoid the schools where there is a larger amount of non-English speaking children (where their first language isn't English) plus any school that's a "satisfactory" on the Ofsted scale.
