Risk of flooding in Poets Corner

I am interested in buying a basement flat in Alfred Road but am a bit concerned about the history of flooding in Acton with it being a basement flat.I'd be really grateful to know if anyone has had any problems with flooding in the area since the major floods of 2004 and as to whether the improvements that Thames Water made in 2007 have worked. My understanding is that the flooding area was mainly around the Horn Lane area - and Thames Water have carried out extensive works in the area to solve the problem.I'd call Thames Water and speak to the Highways Department of the Council (because they will know what works were carried out underneath their roadways) to find out more.

We moved to the area in 1999 and our cellar flooded several times in the first few years but nothing since then.

One of my neighbours at the top of Milton Road had her cellar flooded last week.

I live at the top of Alfred road. The house has an unconverted basement, it's a bit damp, but not flooded in the 7 years I've been here. I've not heard of any Alfred road flooding at our end.

Hi Melissa,I live on churchfield Road and have a basement in my property that flooded quite a few times around 5 years ago. I believe since then the drains around the area.. Certainly around birkbeck road have had some major work done to them and have not had a problem since. Def worth a call to Thames water though.Lucy
