Gas Works

Into our third week on Goldsmith Road. Can't blame the guys doing it as they are just doing their jobs but it's REALLY disruptive. Just had the bloke in to pull through the new gas pipe (yes they do literally pull the new pipes through into your house) and my house now covered in thick sticky black soot. It's everywhere. The guy doing is gave such a yank on the plastic tube he took out the ceiling pendent lamp in the process. Oh well, at least I'm not having the front porch dug up. It would be comical if it wasn't so messy, annoying and NOISEY!

Hope they make good everything destroyed in the process.Must be a nightmare - they seem very selective as to which streets are being done - I wonder if it's better to be improved or ignored.

They told us that the old metal pipes need replacing with new plastic ones but I don't know how they are selecting who gets new pipes. Just been trying to get this black sticky soot stuff off the walls after they brought a new pipe through old pipe to connect with the gas meter. It's like tar. Doesn't come off with water. Mr Muscle Kitchen Grim seems to be doing the trick.

And there is NOWHERE to park this evening - cross husbnad has driven off into the night making Scott like noises about being some time - presumably because of the moving of all the Goldsmith Road folk.
