No water/very low pressure.......

Anybody in the West Acton area without water or extremely low pressure this morning ?Thanks....

Yes, no water.  Am in North Acton.  I called Thames Water and they told me there's a burst water main but somewhere they can't find out where - they're currently looking for it. Obviously they can't fix the pipe unless they find out where it is.The woman I spoke to said if anyone in the area sees a leak to report it immediately and they will check it out (obviously they want to find it).  She said the area covered is W3 and NW postcodes so it's a huge area which is why it will take time to check all the roads for leaks so they'd like locals to report all the leaks they can.The gist of the message was that we shouldn't expect water for a while!

Thanks Sarah.I did quickly look on the website and it seems the whole of the Twickenham is out too.......I'm more worried right now regarding a registered disabled person neighbour who needs washing down a few times a day for obvious reasons. Are there any special provisions to be made for folk like this ?

Yes, they mentioned Twickenham too but I wasn't sure how that could be linked to our water problem.I would suggest whoever looks after your disabled neighbour buys a few bottles of water.  Not great I know but better than nothing.  In an ideal world Thames Water would have some provision to deliver water to people who need it but this world is far from ideal unfortunately.

Just spoke to an overly polite lady at Thames Water who said there was nothing they could do to help regarding people with disablities.....She suggested that bottled water and plenty of baby wipes was the way to go......so off i trot to the shops......

Will they refund the cost?  Worth a shot to send them the bill and a polite letter asking them to send you a cheque :-)

That is a very large area, so a lot of water, but that should be painfully obvious to anyone near any single leak. I noticed low pressure close to Gypsy Corner. I think that the supply may be from the huge high pressure ring that runs near the North Circular and the River Brent, so perhaps it is leaking in to the Brent itself. It has failed before, it was encased in concrete but inspection hatches rusted inside the concrete and eventually blew away. One in the Ace Cafe car park near Stonebridge Park shot out of the ground and landed in a car park on the other side of the North Circular Road, and the Abbey Road underpass was flooded.
