Dressmaker and pattern shop

I need a recommendation for a really good dressmaker who can either make a dress without a pattern (just from my rough design) or someone to recommend a local pattern shop where I can try and hunt down a design closest to what I want. I know John Lewis at Westfield have a haberdashery but I wanted to know if there was something more local.I have searched for recommended dressmakers on here,have e-mailed them all and not had a response for prices. Any help gratefully received!

John Lewis at Westfield? You could try asking Nish at Pearls Drycleaners in Churchfield Road - he has someone to do alterations but may have a suggestion for you.

Olivia. I noticed a new dressmaking shop had opened up in The Oaks shopping centre. Maybe they can help you. It looks pretty well equipped......

There is an idian (?) guy in church road other side of high street from market place on the left hand side about 10 - 15 shops from the corner.  He comes recommended and seems good. He looks like a clothes sewing shop and indeed is one!

I second the recommendation for the Church Road place (sorry, can't remember the name). They have done many alterations for me, and I know someone who took them a blouse and they reproduced it without a pattern. I've heard him talking with other customers about things they are making, too. Very helpful people.

I too have used the Church Road chap, in the back with materials in the window.  He is very good.  He has just done simple alterations for me but remodeled a suit for a friend and made a super job of it.

The one in The Oaks is called 'Mrs Stitch' and she makes to order - I've seen her measuring people in there!  No idea what prices/quality, but it sounds like what you're looking for.

We had a zip replaced in a jacket there, and it was an OK job but the stitching is very visible.By contrast we have had several alterations done by the guy in the launderette at Acton Town station, which have come back very quickly and impressed us with the quality.Don't know if they do dressmaking though - suspect it is only alterations.
