Olympic Torch Relay
Much to my surprise I have enjoyed watching the live feed on the BBC website. I understand that the corporate sponsors travel ahead dishing out promotional stuff. At the sharp end the BBC camera wagon travels ahead of the torch bearers, catching every changeover and the MPC team that escort the flame and handle the swaps with high efficiency. In between the running bits the flame goes back into a majic lantern and we enter 'convoy mode' with a forward facing camera recording travel on the roads inbetween. Police outriders weave inbetween, crossing solid white lines and overtaking at speed. I find it mesmeric..... and the runners are fun, a whole cross section of the community. I did not know that a majority where chosen by the sponsors, Co-Co Cola, Santander et al. Worth a watch, but beware, you may be there for some time!
