road sweeper b4 rubbish pick up and they  way they do it

well  i seen  it  all our road  got picked at  8 am then  at 8.45 the rubbish  was collected then THE RECYCLE GUYS well the  have  large  wheelie bins  but  ALL  recycle  rubbish  in  then  when  they  are  full they  are put  into the lorry what  a performane and  loads  fall out the street  is  a mess  and  other streets  around   i have emailed  the  council  but getting  very  fed  up  and the  LOCAL COUNCILERS  have  not  got  back  to  me 2 weeks now   rant  over

I've noticed that as well!! The new street cleaning is not done the day after the rubbish collection like it used to be. You would think it's common sense, but I'm frequently reminded that there is no such thing.I'm told that one councillor: @dancrawford85 on Twitter is very responsive to complaints of this nature.

When I got back to Brouncker Rd last night the road was looking tidy.  After initial problems things seem to have settled down.

These are large bits of rubbish which have never been collected by the council - under this contract or any other.  They tend to get picked up by special collection who try to find out who has dumped them.  Your posting specifically said that the road was a mess becuase the people doing the collection had left rubbish all over the road.  I was merely stating that when I got back home there was no evidence of this.

thank  you nigel maybe  you  can  report the  dumping of large items of rubbish of  as well  to  the  council  as some other  people have as we  have this promlem  of dumping  large items  week in week out

Jon,Sorry to hear about your road.  This is all too common a story I am afraid.  In April one third of all of Ealing's streets were unacceptably dirty compared to only 5% in April of the previous year.  The best way to solve this is to keep reporting problems on the telephone 020 8825 6000 or report in online here:http://www.ealing.gov.uk/site/scripts/home_info.php?homepageID=9The council does act on these reports.  I know from personal experience that it is a bit long-winded reporting these but it will work eventually.  The Conservative opposition is pushing the council hard to fix this contract.  Residents can do their bit by reporting the problems.

Phil, I live on the same road as Jon and, as I reported earlier, the road was clean and tidy when I got back home after work.  There were problems when the new contract was introduced but, to my eyes at least, it looks like it is back to normal to me.

Nigel,These things can be a bit subjective sometimes.  I know that my idea of a tidy home is very different from my wife's!  I am the tidy one.  For many years the council has graded its streets on a nationally agreed scale of A to D where A is pretty much spotless and D is disgusting.  At the last council meeting I asked the council (Question 17, 8th May) to give figures for this April and last April.  The answer was:The following are the number of transects monitored this April (2012) with last April (2011) in brackets. Grade A 2960 (12,750) Grade B 790 (444) Grade C 681 (313) Grade D 7 (0)Because the council has cut is monitoring team the number of checks made has been reduced by a factor of 3 but if you look at the percentages you will see that last April 5% of streets were not A graded and that last month 33% were not.  This is a sharp and objectively measured degradation in service.  Hopefully it will get better when we see the next few months figures.  I will be keeping an eye.

I don't know about other roads, but for the last couple of weeks, Highlands Avenue has been cleaned after rubbish/recycling collections and it has been left very clean and tidy - even the fly-tipping type rubbish that the refuse collectors did not take was cleared up. Maybe some of the teething troubles are at last being sorted.
