High Street/Acton Lane

I don't think that putting islands at this junction was too clever. Previously one was able to pass a vehicle that was going to turn into Acton lane by the swimming bath, but now the island holds up traffic until the vehicle ahead has turned.

Yes, it's ridiculous and pointless.  One of the islands has been removed I think to allow the E3 to turn right without having to drive straight over the top of it.  Seriously, does the council not think about these things.  How much did it cost, of our taxpayers money, to put the island in only for it to be removed again a few weeks later due to mismanagement and incompetence?

If the council have the courage to tell us the costings, it will be a miracle.Grafton Rd can't have a one way system, due to budget cuts but, there seems to be plenty of money for mismanagement, incompetence and sheer stupidity. What next?

I believe the idea behind the bollards is to stop speeding and large articulated lorries using the High Road as a short cut.Are you saying that you are happy with speeding cars and large articulated lorries using the High Road?

If you go to the police station you will see that there is a sign which directs hgv vehicles down the high street. I frequently travel this road and never have I been able to go more than 20 mph due to the density of traffic, pedestrians and cyclistsThe reason the HGV traffic is directed down the high street is that the bridge at Acton mainline station is too weak.

What they have put in is not safe and causes wide vehicles to mount the pavement.  I see the kerb stone was smashed out again as well - all round a bad idea.  If they wanted to slow traffic they should have implemented something else.

it was not just a bollard but an island, If you wanted to turn up grove road coming from Shepherds bush then the back end of your car was still in the lane for traffic behind you, esp a bus, thus causing MORE hold ups, it was also difficult to manoeuvre, and sometimes you mounted the curb damaging your tyres and the curb. It was obvious from day one that it was not going to work and any 3 year old could have told them that before they put it in.. What a huge waste of money
