Fly tipping in East Acton

can someone please help me as I don't know what to do. We have 7 large skip wheelie bins on our estate which we purchased from Ealing council but someone has driven onto our estate and dumped a load of earth into 2 of the bins driven off and now the council are refusing to empty the bins becuase of the earth, helpful suggestions please I have tried the council and envirocrime unit both useless.

Not really fair is it. I have an matching property to my neighbour. He is on council property and has had an enormous tree removed for nothing. To have my tree trimmed I have to pay £2000. Bet I pay more in council tax too.Dont suppose there is CCTV of the eventYou could try the local papers.

the paper is my next move, as this is a joke we are bound by law to pay council tax but get a very poor service from our council.Next council elections I will be waiting to ponce on the canvessers. I wonder if we deceied to have a massive party in the middle of our estate would the council send the noise people??

Dianne, sorry to hear of your problem. Not unknown on any estate but more tricky on a small estate like yours. Unfortunately the problem comes with the territory! You own it, hence its your problem. How did anyone get access and dump earth into Eurobins without being challenged?Not sure why you should expect the council to fund a solution, though they ought to provide good advice.As for  'yet the council take £1200 a year x 30 in council tax for what, they do nothing' that is a bit like the Monty Python sketch, 'What did the Romans do for us' errr.... schools, libraries, roads, social services, environmental services etc, etc. I understand you have problems on your estate but you cannot always blame 'The Council'

Yes I think I can Ian, when the council planning commitee give access rights through our estate for pedestrains from a neighbouring site being built by developers, when the developers are building private £1.2m houses on leasehold land and have their own access from Bromyard Avenue, they did'nt seem to mind then that we are a private estate with the freehold owned by us. They choose to use our private land as and when it suits the council. We are private when we need something to be done like our rubbish collection (whioh we pay for)but not private when they give the rights to our land away to developers !!!!!!!!!!!

I'm afraid their get-out clause is that it is on private land.It sounds as if your Eurobins are too easily accessible and visible.As anybody who doesn't bring a bin in pretty sharpish knows somebody is likely to dump something in it.  This is why kerbside collections from recycling boxes get a better quality of recyclate and wheelie bins have a higher collection rate and lower quality rate.We had a problem at an office and moved them inside into a bin store. Making sure that residents are kept up to date on how to reduce waste helps you need fewer bins.  Now that everyone is expected to recycle you have to have more than one type - recycling and residual waste - and so need to make a decision on the ratio.On Chiswick W4 someone had a lot of topsoil to get rid of and managed to find interested takers.  Unfortunately you don't know where this has come from so you don't know whether it is contaminated with anything or not.Unfortunately your problem may stem from someone not checking that their waste carrier was a registered one. Whoever has just paid for soil to be taken away without checking should worry because it just might be traced back to them. Householders have a legal Duty of Care to keep their waste securely and dispose of it legally.  If found guilty under the Environmental Laws they can be fined heavily not just the person who dumped this). no, I have fought the council and the development company about this, we did;nt allow pedestrian access either the council granted it against our wishes

Unfortunatley not so I have to worry about it as I live there, we don;t get anything recycled either as they will not pick it up, we used to have boxes and bags for plastics now we get nothing, we are like a forgotten part of Acton but we still pay council tax for the most expensive bin collection ever

Really, I'm surprised at that I understood that LBE was rolling out collections for flats ages ago.Well I suppose it is the wrong time now since they still can't deal with ordinary streets but I think you should be making sure that your request/lack of recycling collection is on file.

Ealing will only pick and choose recycling where it's easy for them.  Blocks of 25 or more flats can apply for recycling bins.  Fewer than that and if you're on private land, you officially get nothing, but you can try your luck.

As Diana says they pay their Council Taxes don't they.I used to have to keep a photographic record of the bins outside the office so that I could see when they had been emptied and had a better idea of how many Eurobins for residual and how many for recycling.

Diana, you need to form some sort of 'residents group' at which you can discuss all the problems you are experiencing.  Invite to it your local Councillor, local Council Cleansing & Enforcement Officer and someone from the Council's recycling department.You can either say 'not my job' and stick with what you have got.  Or take the 'bull by the horns' and do something.Someone must be managing this property.

There is only 30 flats on our road, 5 blocks of 6 not a big ask to save our planet, we want to recycle but we are a private estate and Ealing council will not go out of there way for us. Unless it is to collect our council tax.
