Road narrowing and obstruction on Acton High Street paid for by us!!

Its a scheme funded by Boris (bribe for the suburbs!) to improve the local high street, for pedestrians, cyclists and buses. Also some money for streetscene stuff like the fantastic tree image planted on the ugly car park. It might not be car friendly but thats current thinking. What was your point exactly?

I hear the Laurel and Hardy theme tune in my head every time I go past that junction.  Seriously talk about make a meal out of what should be a quick and simple job.  What are they doing now?  Re-paving the road?  Putting in a speed bump? Something else?  All done after they put in two bollards and then had to removed one because the buses couldn't fit.  It's like a slapstick comedy, I await men with long planks turning round and knocking each other off bicyles! I'm all for Boris bribing the 'burbs, but not if our council fritter it away with their incompetence.Love the tree - I see the council can get things right when they want to!

Full marks to Ealing Council for the Oak tree. But why stop there?I would prefer a Leyton High Road style make-over of Acton High Street instead of now-you-see-them-now-you-don't traffic islands. My point is merely to announce that my blood pressure is rising every time i walk or drive along Acton High Street and see the next installment of total lunacy on pavements, road and traffice islands, not traffic islands, new roundabouts.  IS IT ME????????  Is anyone out there ?????  Is it a conspiracy to keep road workers in employment?????

I think it is definitely part of a conspiracy to kill us by giving us heart attacks. Perhaps we should call it pavement-rage-anasia. It is necessary to find ways of killing us before time because there is no way the NHS is going to be able to cope with all of us living to 91 if this government carries on closing A+E departments and spending large amounts of money on pointless admin.

... and people wonder why local councils have such a bad reputation.  Ealing are seriously incompetent.The roundabout is painted on flat so that cars can drive straight across it while at the same time showing that roundabout rules apply (ie give way to the right).  This enables an easier right turn from the Uxbridge Road.  However, I wonder how much money was spent for this tiny little change after they've put in a completely different design and then removed it again.  As for pedestrians, if anything it makes crossing on the corner of the swimming pool even more difficult because the right turn off the main road doesn't now hold up buses and cars.  Maybe they can put in a zebra?  Then remove it then put in something else?!  :-)
