Google Maps Query.......

Can anyone help me please? I need to measure distance 'as the crow flies' betweed two points on the map. Does anyone know how to do this using Google maps or Google earth. I can do 'directions', walking, by car etc but cannot spot how to do as the crow flies........Many thanks, Iain

Found it, using the ruler tool in Google earth......

The crow uses the motorways, as we do :-)

There's also a measuring tool in Google Maps - click on "Maps Labs" on the bottom of the left hand bar at maps.google.co.uk and you can enable  there.

Thanks, that is good as you can plot a path, as opposed to a straight line. I used a link kindly suggested on ChiswickW4...http://www.daftlogic.com/projects-google-maps-distance-calculator.htm
